A Different Point of View

Toy Photos

So many memories come from small things. We may not play pretend with barbies and soldiers anymore, but toys will always be a part of our childhoods.

“No matter how old you are, if a little kid hands you a toy phone…you answer it.”-Dave Chappelle.

That was the day the world changed, but not for the better. Everyone knows that humans can’t live forever. We aren’t immortal or infallible, but over the centuries that is what we think we have become. The society we thought would never fail, fell. The world is in disarray, but the government chooses to turn a blind eye to all the people who deserve punishment. People who think they are above the law. After that day people no longer thought that. They knew the truth: no one is saved from justice and justice bends for no man. When people who are killer are kept alive just waiting for the moment, they get to go free, that is mercy. This world has no room for mercy, not anymore.

Ever since that day the murders, arsonists, and terrorist are no longer safe from justice. Ever since that day if you kill, you need to expect to be killed. The day the world changed was the day that I finally realized the truth. That day I sat next to a peaceful pond. It was so blue and deep. I felt like I could lose myself in those waters. That was the spot I went to when I need a break from the world and the people who inhabit it. When I needed to forget the world existed. When I needed to leave all my problems behind. I couldn’t save the world from everything that was happening, I couldn’t even save myself from the world.

As I sat on the banks of my safe haven, I took a breath for the first time in what felt like ages. And I forgot. I forgot how cruel and unforgiving this world is as something, someone pushed me into the pond the only place where I felt safe. My white dress floated up around me as I tried to push myself to the surface. Reaching, reaching, but not quite there. A strand of my auburn brown hair floated across my face. That was the day I lost all hope and all the patience I had left. I lost the belief that life was good and could be good again.

If nobody would save me, I would save the future I will live in. I will survive and help others do the same. That day 7 years ago was the day I decided that since this world believed in something called “mercy” I would show this world something called justice.

Still Life Photos

  1. I think I have strong compositions in most of my pieces. For the composition i like my “music” photo the best. I also like how my “Key Necklaces turned out”. I like having my hand in the photo.
  2. I edited my photos good enough. If I did this assignment again i would want to change the background look of my “Squishy Pastry” photo. I like how my “High Heels” photo came out. I made the backdrop really dark so the colorful beads stand out more.
  3. If I shot this assignment again I would change some of the placements 0f my objects. I would have gotten closer to all my subjects.
  4. My two favorite photos are my “Glasses” on and my “Music” one. I like the difference between the red color and the green in the glasses on. The light blue sky brings the whole image together. When we had our guest speaker she said “you aren’t selling the photo you are selling you perspective.” or something like that. I believe that i should have a photo on the wall.

The photo is most likely a view from above. The sun is barely creeping over the trees. The similarity between colors of the trees up close and the trees in the distance are cool. It brings the photo together. If it was too different it would be confusing to the eye. The darker outline of the two people put more focus on the snow dusted trees.

Mathilde Langevin

The Lighty on the floor makes the darker wood stand out more. It makes the green stand out but not in a dizzying way. The white of the cushions, pillar, and floor bring the whole thing together. The view point looks like you just walked into the room ready to read or just relax.

Max Bürgi

This viewpoint is from the sky like a drone took it. Flying into a cloud covered mountain top. The contrast of the green trees to the whitish grey clouds is astonishing. The road that gently curse into the mist is cool. The lighter and darker trees are subtle but give the picture a more “in the moment” look.
