Impact of Photography

Flags of our Fathers. What does that sentence mean to you. The past they created for us, the marks they left on the world, a flag our forefathers planted to give the nation hope. Photos help remember the sad, terrible, and trumpet times in our history. In the movie, Flags of our Fathers they show how a single photo can inspire hope, doubt, a willingness to sacrifices.

The movie Flags of our Fathers was not what I expected. The men how were basically forced to come home thought of it as a punishment. They wanted to be with there units, but because of the raising of the flag they couldn’t. Even though the picture wasn’t of the real flag raising it still inspired. I don’t think it was the actual act of putting up a flag it was what it represented. That America is not broken, not done with the battle, not going to give in. The flag represented how far we had come, but also that there was a way to go down if we wanted this victory.

You could almost say that photography is the basis to most important events. We can read the words, we can make guess, but until we see it ourselves can we truly believe it. People aren’t always the most trusting and don’t believe everything they see. I believe that by taking photos we can remember what was done in the past and how much we have changed since then. From small colonies to a top world power, we have grown exponentially.

Photography is something that can change the world and peoples’ views. A photo well taken is a photo well known. Photos can save memories that we would have lost. People and moments are saved and therefore remembered. I love that fact that I could take a picture of all my friends right this second as a sophomore, in 8th hour photography and be able to remember it 12 years. I can see how people have changed even when I haven’t seen them for a while.

In the end I believe that photography has changed the world. It has left us an image to remember our pasts by. It can change how we view events and how we react to them. People can use photos to change or sometimes manipulate people’s interpretation of the event. Like in the movie Flags of our Fathers People though one thing because of the photo even though it wasn’t the real one.

“My incense Waterfall” is really cool. At first, I didn’t notice what it was, but upon close inspection you could see what it real was. It looked very mysterious and I liked how its surrounding are all black.

I like this photo. The angle is cool, and it puts more focus on the eyes and face. It outlines the whiskers very well.

This photo is amazing. The attitude is clearly coming through the photo.. Your cat is awesome. He looks like he really couldn’t care less.

I love this photo. The leaves on the ground are different colors and shades. It looks like the trees have barely started to change colors.

Conceptual Self Portrait

Conceptual-Something the describes something through using images or anything that isn’t the object you are depicting.

My picture “Write me a story” is because I love to write and create stories. Writing things calms me down and lets me express my self even when I don’t say it. My writing expresses how I feel on the inside if I don’t want realize. “Past Ancestors” is because of the people who came before me to give me the life I have. The things people learned before me, Math, science, writing, the internet. Especially my mother and father who helped me every time I fall. My grandparents who taught them what they are teaching me.

“Vibrant Leafs” was one of my photos I took while I was in Europe. That trip was a huge part of my life I feel like I learned a lot about myself. This trip was amazing. I loved the new experience and getting to know new types of culture. It is so different from here and I loved being far from home. “Hot Chocolate” is my favorite drink. Everyday since sixth grade I have always had a cup or mug of it. It has become somewhat of a comfort drink.

Open Heavens is a great title for your black and white photo. I like how the clouds look against the skies. The sky really does look ethereal. I also like how the mountain looks compared to the clouds. It makes the clouds look brighter.

(Audrey Bowler)

Blue Sky. This photo is amazing I love how different people could look at it and get different meanings. They could notice the serenity of the ground or brighter vivid sky. The yellow, orange, and slightly pink sky get it a feeling of hope or new beginnings.  (Keyanna Kirk)

Awesome sky. This is a great picture. It shows your personality. You are a very open, awesome, big idea kind of person. I love that you included the road in your picture as well as the elementary school. It gives it more of a home feeling. It’s like you are looking back at the past and how far you have come in life. (Aspen Cluff)

The city through the trees. The name of this post is what caught my eye. It feels as if you are looking through a snow globe. I like how you can see some of the trees while others are blurry. It creates a “in the moment” vibe. (Makenzie)
